Guys’ Weekend in Fredericksburg, TX: Golf, Bourbon & Good Times

The Tradition
We pull into Fredericksburg late on a Thursday, tailgate coolers clinking like a welcome bell. Someone runs into the grocery store for steaks, breakfast tacos for the morning, and the “we might need it” extras, ice, chips, and anything else we forgot. By the time we get to the house, the Hill Country air is quiet, the porch light is warm, and the group is already popping with tee-time trash talk.
Inside, we do the same dance every year: bags down, fridge stocked, grill tools located, and the first rounds of ping pong and darts to “shake off the rust.” Nobody keeps official score on Thursday night...who are we kidding. It’s more about landing, laughing, and letting the work fall off our shoulders.
Friday: Fairways & Texas Bourbon
Morning starts with coffee on the back patio and that standard pre-round routine: where’s my glove, who’s got extra tees, and who’s owning up to the breakfast taco run? The breakfast taco at the course are good. We roll out to Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course with a friendly wager on the front nine and pride on the back. The course is just the right mix of forgiving and humbling, perfect for a group that wants to compete without turning the trip into the PGA.
Post-round, we drive to Garrison Brothers, a pilgrimage at this point. There’s something about stepping onto a Texas bourbon ranch with your crew that resets the soul. We’ll debate tasting notes, and, inevitably, someone says, “This is the bottle for tonight.”
Evening brings us back to the house where the grill takes center stage. Steaks sizzle, playlists rotate, and the “best-of-three” ping pong series somehow becomes a seven-game saga. Darts get serious only when the steaks come off the grill. It’s simple: good food, good bourbon, and the same old jokes that somehow get funnier every year.

Saturday: Late Tee Times & Main Street Nights
We plan a later tee time on Saturday because, well, Friday night. Breakfast is slower, stories get taller, and the stretches are more… necessary. After another round at Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course, we head back to the house to freshen up and swap polos for casual shirts.
Then it’s Main Street time: dinner at a solid local spot, a stroll past the shops, and then we let the live music pull us in. That’s the magic of Fredericksburg, there’s always a place with a band and a vibe. We don’t over-plan Saturday night; we just follow the sound and see where the evening takes us. Sometimes it’s a high-energy set that keeps us out late. Sometimes it’s a singer with a guitar and a story that keeps us quiet and grinning.
Sunday: The Slow Roll Home
We clean up, pack the last of the leftovers, and take the annual group photo on the porch. I call out the same line I always do: “Let's do this again next year?” Heads nod. It’s not just a trip anymore, it’s a tradition.
At-a-Glance Weekend Plan (What Works for Us)
Thursday (Arrival): Grocery run, stock the house, grill warm-up, ping pong & darts.
Friday: Morning tee time at Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course → afternoon bourbon stop at Garrison Brothers → grill night at the house.
Saturday: Later tee time → clean up → dinner on Main Street → live music.
Sunday: Pack up, head home.
What We Pack (We go in the Fall)
Golf musts: balls, extra tees, glove, hat, sunscreen.
Chill gear: a speaker, and that “house trophy” for the weekend champ.
Comforts: bourbon, ice, and light jacket for hanging out at the fire pit
Where We Stay
We base the whole weekend out of our Fredericksburg Airbnb, set up for groups, with a grill, ping pong, darts, and plenty of room to spread out. It’s the kind of place where you can roll in late Thursday, golf hard Friday and Saturday, and still feel like you had a full vacation without over-scheduling every hour.

If you’re planning your own guys trip, keep it simple: great rounds, great bourbon, and a home base that makes hanging out the best part of the weekend.
Ready to make your own tradition? Lock in the tee times, plan that Garrison Brothers visit, and book the house that makes your crew feel like they’ve been coming here for years. Fredericksburg isn’t just for girls trips, it’s a guys’ weekend that gets better every year.
